Getting Started
What Feedback Smack does
"It looks wrong" is not a bug report. Feedback Smack turns feedback on any web page into something a developer can act on: what should change, a picture of exactly where, and every browser, system and page detail they would otherwise have to ask for.
The feedback panel
Click the toolbar icon, press Ctrl+Shift+Y (⌘⇧Y on a Mac), or right-click a page and choose Give feedback on this page. The panel opens in Chrome's side panel, beside the page, and follows whichever tab you're on. Each tab keeps its own report until you close it.
A report has a Kind (Bug, Idea, Copy change, Design or Question), a Direction that says what should change and how, and the pictures you attach.
Show exactly where
- Select area: drag a box over the page. Just that area is attached.
- Pick a part: point at the page to highlight one part of it and click. Its picture, its text, its HTML and a selector that finds it again all come with it.
- Visible page: everything in view, in one click.
Every detail a developer asks for
Each report carries the details you choose, in five groups: Page, Browser, System, Display and Network. They're read from the browser when you share the report, never before. See Choose what reports include.
Share it your way
- Copy report: rich text with the pictures, ready to paste into an email, a ticket or a doc.
- Download: one HTML file with the pictures that opens anywhere.
- Send to a sheet: a row in a Google Sheet your team shares, with the pictures in a Drive folder beside it.
Every report you share is kept in Saved reports on this device, to copy or download again.
The feedback board
Once a spreadsheet is connected, the Feedback board shows every tab's feedback as cards with pictures. Filter by status or kind, open a card to see everything, and move it from New to In progress, Done or Won't do. See Track feedback on the board.
