Core How-Tos
Write a feedback report
A good report says what should change, shows exactly where, and carries the details a developer needs. The panel walks you through all three.
Open the panel
Any of these opens the panel beside the page you're on:
- Click the Feedback Smack icon in the toolbar.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Y (⌘⇧Y on a Mac). You can change it; see Set keyboard shortcuts.
- Right-click the page and choose Give feedback on this page.
The panel follows whichever tab you're on, and each tab keeps its own report. A report you haven't shared yet stays on this device, and goes when you close its tab.
Fill it in
- From: your name and email, so whoever reads it can reply. Set them once in Settings → Report Contents.
- Kind: Bug, Idea, Copy change, Design or Question. New reports start as a Bug; change that in Settings → Report Contents.
- Direction: what should change, and how. "The price wraps onto two lines at this width; keep it on one" beats "looks off".
- Attach: Select area, Pick a part or Visible page, as many as you need. See Attach a picture of the page.
Add context with a right-click
Right-click anywhere on the page for the same capture tools: Select an area to attach and Pick a part of the page to attach. Text you've selected on the page goes into the report's page details too.
Share it
Press Copy report, Download, or, with a spreadsheet connected, pick it under Send to and press Send to a sheet. The details are read from the browser at that moment. See Copy, download or send a report.
