Set keyboard shortcuts

Three commands can have a shortcut: open the panel, select an area, and pick a part of the page. Opening the panel starts as Ctrl+Shift+Y (⌘⇧Y on a Mac); the other two start empty.

Change a shortcut

  1. Open Settings → Shortcuts. Your shortcuts lists what's set now.
  2. Click Change shortcuts…. Chrome doesn't let an extension set its own shortcuts, so this opens Chrome's chrome://extensions/shortcuts page.
  3. Find Feedback Smack, click the pencil beside a command, and press the keys you want. The settings page updates when you come back.

Choosing a combination that works

  • It must include Ctrl or Alt (⌘ or ⌥ on a Mac) and may add Shift.
  • Ctrl+Alt combinations are rejected, because they collide with the AltGr key.
  • Avoid Alt+Shift on Windows: it switches keyboard language, and the operating system always wins.
  • If the field stays empty after you set it, another extension already holds that combination.
