Choose a theme

URLflows for Jira ships 21 themes for the panels it adds to Jira — the notes pad, the backlog tooltips, the subtask lists. Pick one, set a light/dark pair you can flip from the board, or recolor any of them and make your own.

Where to find them

Open Settings → Appearance → Theme. It's a grid of cards, each a miniature of the pad rendered in that theme's own colors, so you can see what you're picking before you pick it. The settings page repaints itself as you click, and the choice reaches open Jira tabs live.

The three families

  • Noir (5) — Aqua Noir, Ember Noir, Viridian Noir, Orchid Noir and Mono Noir. These ship a full palette on pure black, so the extension's panels keep their own look whatever Jira is doing around them.
  • Day (5) — Aqua Day, Ember Day, Viridian Day, Orchid Day and Mono Day. The same idea on pure white.
  • Accent (10) — Teal, Ocean Blue, Indigo, Violet, Magenta, Rose, Crimson, Amber, Emerald and Slate. These work the older way: no background of their own, so the panel follows Jira's own light/dark and only the accent color changes.

Plus Match Jira, which reads the color mode Atlassian is in and picks whichever of your two chosen themes suits it.

Set your light/dark pair

Settings → Appearance → Light / dark switch is where you nominate one theme for light and one for dark. That pair drives three things: the sun/moon button in the pad's header, the one at the foot of the settings sidebar, and Match Jira itself.

Once it's set you can flip the whole extension mid-standup without leaving the board — press the sun/moon button on the pad and the settings tab follows.

Recolor a theme, or build one

Hover any theme card for its pencil. The editor gives you the three colors a theme is built from — background, text and accent — and works the rest of the palette out from them. A fine tuning row lets you pin any of the six derived slots by hand if the automatic choice isn't what you want.

Recoloring a built-in leaves the original in place, with a reset arrow to undo your changes. New theme builds one from scratch. Your themes sit at the top of the picker and appear in the light/dark dropdowns alongside the built-ins.

Readable by default

Every bundled theme clears the WCAG AA contrast ratio for body text (4.5:1) in both light and dark — for the muted secondary text as well as the main text, measured against the panel and card it actually sits on rather than the page behind them.

If your system asks for reduced motion, the extension takes it: the hover highlight's pulse settles to a static ring instead of breathing indefinitely, panel and tooltip animations resolve at once, and celebrations thin out. The refresh spinner keeps turning slowly — frozen, it would read as a stalled fetch.

Subtask text color and size

Two settings on the Subtasks page work independently of the theme:

  • Subtask text color — pins the subtask summary text to any color, on both light and dark boards.
  • Subtask text size — scales the lists on Jira's own cards from 100% to 250%.
