Back up & restore your settings

Once you've tuned your accent theme, hover style, celebrations, and Parking Lot, it's worth keeping a copy — so a new laptop or a fresh browser profile is a thirty-second job rather than a re-run of every choice you made.

Export a backup

  1. Open the URLflows for Jira settings and go to Backup & Restore.
  2. Click Export settings….
  3. Save the JSON file somewhere you'll find it again.

What's in the file

A single JSON file holding every setting the extension keeps:

  • Subtasks — whether they're shown, your sort order, and the subtask text size.
  • Appearance — your accent theme (including any custom colours) and hover-highlight style.
  • Celebrations — when they fire, which statuses count, and the animation you picked.
  • Parking Lot — your notes, quick-insert phrases, saved templates, focus message, and text sizes.

It's a plain text file describing your preferences. It holds nothing about your Jira issues, boards, or account — the extension never reads or stores those.

Restore on another browser

  1. Install URLflows for Jira on the new browser.
  2. Open its settings and go to Backup & Restore.
  3. Click Choose backup file… and pick your JSON file.

Any Jira tabs you already have open update straight away — no reload needed.

Restoring replaces, it doesn't merge. Importing a backup overwrites the settings currently on that browser rather than combining the two. If the current settings are worth keeping, export them first.

When to take one

  • Before switching to a new machine or browser profile.
  • Once your Parking Lot phrases and templates have settled into something your team actually uses.
  • Before experimenting with settings you might want to undo in one step.
