Core How-Tos
Use the rain radar
The Radar tab shows the last hour of rain and snow around the place you're showing, looped on a map with the towns marked.
Open the radar
Click the Sweata Weatha icon and choose the Radar tab. The panel remembers the tab you used last, so next time it opens on the radar.
The map is centered on your place. The radar shows rain and snow that has already fallen, frame by frame over the past hour; it isn't a forecast of where rain will go.
Play, pause and scrub
- Press Pause to stop the loop on a frame, and Play to start it again.
- Drag the time slider to step through the hour yourself. The time of the frame shows beside it.
Zoom
Press Zoom in (+) or Zoom out (−) on the map. There are six levels: Close: your town, Region, Wider area, Country, Several countries and Continent.
Radar settings
Open Settings → Radar:
- Zoom: the zoom the radar opens at. The + and − buttons on the map change it too.
- Play the loop when the radar opens: on by default. Turned off, the radar opens on the latest frame, paused.
A bigger radar
Open the panel in a window of its own and resize the window: the radar grows with it. See The toolbar icon and the pop-out window.
The radar comes from RainViewer, on a map by Esri, and the credit line under the map links to both. If the map says it couldn't load the radar, check your connection and try again.
