Troubleshoot common issues

Most problems come down to where a stream plays, which streams are switched on, or a permission Chrome hasn't been given yet.

A stream won't play

  • A live radio stream with no file ending often opens as a page. Edit it in Settings → Library and set Plays in to Playfull's player (audio).
  • The browser can't play a file in Playfull's player: Playfull opens the address in a tab instead. Try it there.
  • Some sites won't play inside another window. YouTube's embedded player, for example, refuses to play outside its own page. Set Plays in to The page itself, or open the site in a tab.
  • The station has moved. Open the address in a normal tab. If it doesn't play there either, find the station's current stream address and save it again.

A stream is missing from the toolbar panel

Only enabled streams show in the panel. Open Settings → Library, set the filter to Disabled, and switch it on. If you deleted a suggested station, Suggested streams → Add the missing ones puts it back.

A stream stopped after I paused it

Chrome closes the panel's player after about 30 seconds of silence. Press Play again: a live stream restarts at the live edge.

Pause and play do nothing on a page

Pause and play on a web page need that site's permission. Chrome asks the first time you press either; if you said no, press it again to be asked again. Settings → Other Tabs lists the sites you've allowed. Mute, show and close always work.

The badge count looks too high

By default the badge counts every tab playing sound, not just your streams. Turn off Count other tabs playing sound too in Settings → Toolbar Badge. A muted Playfull player still counts while it's playing.

The Also playing list is empty

Other tabs needs Chrome's permission to read your tabs. If it wasn't granted, Settings → Other Tabs says so; turn the setting off and on again to be asked.

Still stuck?

Use Tell Us Something at the bottom of any page and choose Report Issue. Tell us the stream's address and what happened.
