Core How-Tos
Paste with hotkeys
The newest copy is what the clipboard holds. Every other recent copy is numbered, and its number is its hotkey.
The hotkeys
- Ctrl+V: paste the newest copy, cleaned if cleanup is on.
- Ctrl+Shift+V: paste the newest copy as plain text.
- Alt+1 to Alt+9: paste that copy, the way Ctrl+V would.
- Alt+Shift+1 to Alt+Shift+9: paste that copy as plain text.
- Alt+V: paste the newest copy without the blank space at its start and end.
- Alt+Shift+V: the same, as plain text.
- Esc: close the newest card.
On a Mac, use ⌘ in place of Ctrl and ⌥ Option in place of Alt; plain text is ⌥⇧⌘V. The full list, with your own keyboard's keys, is in Settings → Copying, under Pasting from a card.
Which copy is which number
Copies are numbered newest first. With the copies window on, the numbers follow the window's list; with cards on the page, they follow the cards.
What a numbered paste brings
A paste from a card or the window uses the copy it shows, filtered to formatting tags and safe links, as the browser's own paste would be. Alt+V needs Point out blank space at the start or end switched on; see Trim stray spaces and mask sensitive details.
