Take a screen grab

Four kinds of grab live under Capture in the toolbar panel. Each is copied to your clipboard and saved as a file by default, so it's ready to paste into a ticket or a chat straight away.

Pick the right grab

  • Full page grab — scrolls the page from top to bottom and stitches it into one tall PNG. Sticky headers show once rather than on every slice. Press Esc to cancel while it scrolls.
  • Screen grab — the part of the tab you can see right now.
  • Selection area grab — drag a box over the page and only that area is captured.
  • Full screen grab — opens Chrome's picker, where you choose a whole screen, an app window or another tab.

Grab a color

Click Color grabber to open Chrome's eyedropper, then click anywhere on screen. The color's hex code is copied to your clipboard.

Choose what happens after a grab

  1. Open the settings page from the gear in the toolbar panel.
  2. Go to Tools and find Screen grabs.
  3. Under After a grab, choose to copy and save a file, or just one of the two.
  4. Switch on Include scrollbars if you want them in Screen grab, Selection area grab and Full page grab.

If the page can't reach the clipboard, the grab is saved as a file instead, so nothing is lost.

Before you share it

Run Mask PII first to cover email addresses, phone numbers, card numbers and other personal details on the page. It's a visual mask: the grab shows the bars, the page underneath is unchanged, and Unmask this page takes them away.
