Privacy, Data & Troubleshooting
Privacy & permissions
Feedback Smack has no server and no account. Nothing leaves your computer until you choose to copy, download or send a report, and a sent report goes only to the Google Sheet you connected.
Nothing is collected
- No accounts: there's nothing to sign up for.
- No servers of ours: the extension has no backend to send anything to.
- No analytics or tracking of any kind.
When you send a report, it goes straight to the Google Sheet you connected, through the script deployed in that spreadsheet owner's Google account, and nowhere else. Its pictures go to a folder in that owner's Google Drive.
What's stored
In Chrome's local extension storage on this computer: your name and email, your report and capture settings, your connected spreadsheets and their keys, your theme, the reports being written in each tab, and the reports you've shared, with their pictures.
What the permissions are for
- Access to sites, activeTab and Scripting: capture a page and read its details when you ask, and reach a connected spreadsheet's web app on
script.google.com. Nothing runs on a page until you open the panel or start a capture there. - Side panel: the feedback panel beside the page.
- Context menus: the right-click items.
- Identity and email: fill in your email from the Google account Chrome is signed in with. It's kept on this device.
- System CPU, memory and display: the computer's details in a report.
- Storage and unlimited storage: so saved reports with pictures fit.
Removing your data
Use Settings → Resets → Reset all settings, or remove the extension from chrome://extensions. Uninstalling deletes everything it stored on this computer. Reports you sent stay in the spreadsheet and its Drive folder, where the owner can delete them.
If you remove the extension
When you remove Feedback Smack from Chrome, Chrome opens a short feedback form in a new tab. Answering is optional, and you can just close the tab. The extension sends nothing to the form: the form's link only says which extension you removed. The form is hosted by Airtable, so anything you type there goes to Airtable and to us, under Airtable's privacy policy.
