Pause the effect

Open the Docs Dimmer popup and use the on/off toggle to switch the effect off instantly — handy when you need to see the page at full brightness, match a colour, or check exactly how something looks. Your dimming, warmth, dark-mode, and editor choices are all kept, so flipping it back on restores the same look you had before. There's no need to uninstall.

Reset to defaults

The Reset button returns the controls to sensible defaults:

• Dimming and warmth go back to their starting levels.
• Dark mode is turned off.
• All three editors — Docs, Sheets, and Slides — are switched back on.

It's the quickest way to undo a lot of fiddling and start tuning again from a clean slate.

Where your settings live

Your settings are stored in your browser and synced across your Chrome profile, so the on/off state and your levels follow you between documents and signed-in computers. Nothing is sent to a server — see Privacy & permissions for the details.
