Themes, light and dark

Appearance sets how DevTools+ by URLflows looks: the toolbar panel, the settings page, the DevTools+ tab in DevTools, and what the tools draw on a page, like the inspector card and the pickers. It changes nothing on the pages themselves.

Pick a theme

Open Settings → Appearance and choose under Theme:

  • URLflows: Dark (the default, black with the family cyan) and Light.
  • Seasons: Auto: current season, which changes with the season, then Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
  • Holidays: New Year's, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Harvest and Winter Holidays.

Switch between light and dark

The sun and moon button, in the toolbar panel's header and beside the product name in Settings, switches from any dark theme to Light, and from any light theme back to the last dark theme you used.

Customize a theme

The Customize card changes the colors of the theme you're using, without touching the original.

  1. Pick the theme to start from.
  2. Under Customize, set Background, Text, Buttons and Button text. DevTools+ works out the rest, and a line under the colors says whether the text and button text are easy to read. Aim for 4.5:1 or more.
  3. Press Save to Customized. Your version joins the picker under Customized and is put to use.

Use the original colors starts over from the original's colors. While you're using your version, Delete this version removes it and switches back to the original.

Animation

Animation in the toolbar panel lets snowfall, falling leaves, spring petals or summer fireflies drift across the toolbar panel. Match the theme picks one for a season or holiday theme, and nothing for the others. It's Off by default, and always off when your computer is set to reduce motion. A preview plays beside the choice.

Reset it

  • Settings → Resets → Appearance goes back to the Dark theme with the animation off.
  • Settings → Resets → Customized themes deletes your versions. The originals are unchanged; if you're using one of your versions, its original takes over.
