Back up, restore and reset

Backup & Restore puts everything DevTools+ by URLflows stores in one file, to restore later or in another browser. Resets put one area back to its defaults, or everything at once.

Back up

Open Settings → Backup & Restore and press Export backup (.json). The file lands in your Downloads folder, named urlflows-devtools-plus-backup- plus the date. It holds:

  • The tool list and your AI tools, including the ones you added.
  • The screen grab, recording, color picker, layout grid and Mask PII settings, and your recent colors.
  • Your request rules, container zooms and every hidden element on every page.
  • The site switches you changed with Site switches.
  • The right-click menu setting, your theme, your customized themes and the animation.

A setting you never changed stays out of the file, so after a restore it keeps following the defaults. The performance history on the About page is never backed up.

Restore

On the same page, press Import backup… and choose the file. Use it to move to a new computer or another Chromium browser.

  • Importing merges request rules, hidden elements, container zooms and site switches with what's already here. Nothing is overwritten, and duplicates are skipped.
  • The file's settings replace the ones here, except that recent colors are added to yours and AI tools you added here are kept.
  • Site switches are set in Chrome again, so they apply to those sites straight away.
  • Open tabs update right away. The status line says what came in, or that everything in the file is already here.

A Page Pruner backup imports too: its hidden elements join yours.

Reset one area

Settings → Resets → Reset a single area restores just that area and touches nothing else:

  • Toolbar panel: every tool switched on, in the original order.
  • AI tools: Codex, Claude Code and GitHub Copilot on, the rest off, in the original order. Removes the ones you added.
  • Screen grabs: copy and save a file, without scrollbars.
  • Record the tab: records the tab's sound again.
  • Color picker: copies HEX again and forgets your recent colors.
  • Layout grid: twelve columns, 24px gutters, 1200px wide.
  • Mask PII: every kind of PII masked, as solid bars.
  • Container zoom: forgets the zoomed container on every site.
  • Hidden elements: brings back every hidden element on every page.
  • Request rules: deletes every request rule, so pages load as their servers send them again.
  • Site switches: undoes every site setting DevTools+ changed (JavaScript, images, pop-ups and the rest). Settings you made in Chrome yourself stay.
  • Right-click menu: shows the tools in the right-click menu again.
  • Appearance: back to the Dark theme with the animation off.
  • Customized themes: deletes your versions of the themes; the originals are unchanged.

Container zoom, Hidden elements and Request rules ask you to confirm first.

Reset everything

Reset all settings, under Reset all, returns the extension to a fresh install: every area above plus the performance history. It can't be undone, so export a backup first if you want one.

Keyboard shortcuts belong to Chrome, not the extension, so no reset changes them. Change them at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
