Back up and restore your settings
Next Up by URLflows saves its settings in your browser, tied to where the file is saved. A backup file lets you take them with you: to another computer or browser, to a new folder, or back to how things were.
What a backup includes
One file holds every Next Up window in this browser: settings, calendars, alerts, your own alert sound files, the pop-out window's position and size, layout, themes and your custom colours.
Download a backup
- Open Settings and choose the Backup tab.
- Leave Include my script link and key ticked to restore without connecting again, or untick it to leave them out.
- Click Download backup.
If the file includes your key, keep it private: anyone with it can read your calendar.
Restore a backup
- Open Next Up where you want the settings: on the new computer, in the other browser, or from the file's new location.
- On the Backup tab, click Restore from a backup and choose the file.
- Check the summary (when the backup was made and how many windows it holds), then click Restore now.
Restoring replaces the settings in the backup and reloads the page. If the backup came from a file in another location, its settings move over to this one. If you left out your script link and key, the ones already in this browser are kept.
When to use it
- Before moving the Next Up file to a new folder, or renaming it.
- When you switch to a new computer or another Chromium browser.
- Before trying big changes to your layout or themes, so you can go back.
- Before clearing your browser's data.
For small changes there's a quicker way back. Settings save as you change them, and Undo at the bottom of Settings (or Ctrl+Z, Cmd+Z on a Mac) takes back the last change, one step at a time. To go back to how everything was when you opened Settings, press Esc and choose Undo changes, or Keep changes to close as you are.
