Take a screen grab

Copy:Paste+ takes four kinds of screen grab and puts them on the clipboard, ready to paste, with a card that can save them as a file.

The four grabs

Click the toolbar icon and pick one under Screen grab:

  • Screenshot just what's visible on screen
  • Drag to screenshot a chosen area: drag a box over the part you want.
  • Screenshot a whole screen, window, or other tab: Chrome's own picker opens. The first time, the extension asks once for permission to use it.
  • Screenshot the entire page, top to bottom

The same four are in the right-click menu on any page.

Where a grab goes

By default a grab goes to the clipboard and opens a card with a picture of it and Save as file, which saves the full image as a PNG. To change that, open Settings → Copying and pick under What a grab does: Copy it to the clipboard, Save it as a file, or Copy it and save it as a file.

When the page can't reach the clipboard (an http:// page, or a window that lost focus), the grab is saved as a file instead, so it's never lost.

Give each grab a keyboard shortcut

  1. Go to chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
  2. Find Copy:Paste+ by URLflows and click the pencil beside the grab you want.
  3. Press the keys to use. They work on any page.
