Choose the font and color of pasted text
Pasted text matches the editor's own font and color unless you pick one. Set either and everything you paste lands in it.
Pick a font or color
Click the toolbar icon, or open Settings → Pasting, and use:
- Font for pasted text: Match the editor, System sans-serif, Arial, Georgia or Monospace.
- Color for pasted text: Match the editor, Black, Near-black, or Custom color…, which opens a color picker.
Your font and color apply only while Clean pasted formatting is on.
Why Match the editor is the default
Match the editor removes the color rather than setting one, so the text takes on whatever it's pasted into. Pick a fixed color only if you know it will always be read on white.
Backgrounds are always removed. Any fixed background is wrong somewhere: a dark one is a black block on a light page, a light one a white block on a dark one.
Put it back
Settings → Resets → Pasting turns cleanup back on and returns pasted text to the editor's own font and color.
